Long time “PC Guy” Gone missing… Hello “Mac Dude”?

mac-vs-pcQ: First OS? A: Windows 3.1 – Q: Most hated and most loved OS – A: Windows ME, and Windows XP OSX 10.5.

Did not see that coming did you?

Well let me be perfectly honest, I used to hate Mac with a passion (1998ish-2005ish) but then when Leopard come out I finally decided it was worth giving a go at – So I did what any other hardcore “PC” guy would do, Hacked it…

Ok so I got OSX86 running on my desktop, errrr well working somewhat anyway – the display drivers where wobbly at best, and for some reason I had to unplug-plug in my PS2 mouse after every reboot or power up. <– What a pain in the ass…

Nonetheless it was working and I loaded up dreamweaver and fireworks to see how the working environment was, and it was.. well – Smooth and polished and downright beautiful, the OS was 1000x prettier then XP and had a fluidness I’ve never seen before in a OS.

Ok so I liked it, now what? – well I could not afford any Apple hardware at the time and decided to just wait it out and go back to XP as I could not take how unstable it was on my hackintosh.

Now about a year later I needed a new laptop, I did not even look on Newegg or Compusa – No I went straight to Apple.com and started hunting.

- 4 days later my baby arrived

macbook Yes it was a great experience throughout, and after inspecting every aspect of the hardware I just set there in Aww.

Never have I seen such a polished piece of hardware – I’ve owned 3 PC laptops before my macbook and they all seemed like flimsy pieces of plastic. It was flawless, and I could not get over the quality and attention to detail.

Oh no!, I saw it… There it was staring me in the face – and I just set there in disgust knowing what had happened to me…

I had become a “Fanboy” – Opp! oh well got over that pretty quickly.

Ok so now my advice, Apple desktops are still too expensive, I mean the new iMac’s are looking pretty good and they are coming down but still pretty expensive.

If your looking for a new laptop, don’t even bother with anything else then a Macbook / Macbook Pro – you are just wasting your money, you cannot beat the quality and battery life of a Apple laptop.

So stop trying, oh and another thing – Stop trying to say the G1 is better then the iPhone, You know your wrong and are making yourself look bad..

Facebook’s new Interface option “Facebook Lite”

Browsing around tonight when I happened to notice a change in color on facebook – I quickly took a screen shot not knowing if my next refresh was going to make it go away like the last time Facebook rolled out updates.

Option to try Facebook Lite

facebook_lite

After clicking through I got the following page

Facebook Lite is a faster, simpler way to keep in touch with your friends. If you like it, you may choose to use it instead of the regular Facebook. We still have work to do before it’s done, but we’d love to get your feedback on what we’ve built so far.”

Seems interesting, lets check out the changes they made.

First thing I noticed was how much they stripped from the page, Quite a few buttons are missing from the top and the ones left behind are noticeably larger, I also noticed a very large update panel at the bottom of the page.

Next thing I checked out was the profile page, and man have they stripped this thing down! the page loaded considerable faster – almost instantly.  seems like they added about 5-10px of padding to everything and gave it a cartoon(ish) look.

Only three buttons on the top “Write, Post Photos, Post video” and the sidebar is no more complex – only including “Wall, Info, Friends and Photos & Video”

I did however notice how the ad (only one at the time, not sure if there will be more) stood out much more, I’m hoping this will increase CTR’s for cheeper clicks!

I’m really excited about this update, I was beginning to think Facebook lost there touch of simplicity and was headed down the dark road that Myspace took a LONG time ago..

Good Job Facebook, Looking forward to using this on a daily basis

Stop Laughing, Computers are cool now.

I love the fact that the entire time I was growing up, computers where always looked down at and where “Unpopular” – Now you will be lucky to find anyone not clinging to there cellphone or laptop checking Facebook 24/7.

I think the reason why it has made such a transastaion is the fact that websites, applications and computers in general have become easier to use and more dumb proof, therefore attracting everyone instead of a key group of people interested in the possibility of computing.

Conclusion – I pwned your face and can tell the future, or at least use common sense, either these days is a accomplishment.
